It’s more than booking a date for a clinical training session. Some key decisions taken early on in the booking process can save a lot of time in the run up to and on the day of the course.

ToggleFor skills which are best taught in a clinical environment such as clinical observations or catheter change, the numbers for a practical session are kept smaller, i.e. 8 – 12 delegates per session plus the trainer, this then allows all participants to get sufficient time on any practical equipment plus sufficient time for any feedback given by the trainer, against a larger group where the time for practical skills are often greatly reduced.
Remember to book your Clinical Training Course in plenty of time (4-6 weeks prior) as it is likely to be a last minute booking in order to meet a compliance date i.e. around spring and autumn time when annual certificates need to be refreshed. Also staff will need to book in time to arrange cover.
A session of clinical skills training for nurses, care assistants and support workers can be delivered effectively if the course is relevant to all learning at the right level. e.

You should make a note of the number of delegates, their job roles, and any compliance dates (e.g. certificate of completion dates for annual compliance) and have these to hand when you are making an inquiry about a course. It is also worth finding out if your employer adheres to any of the recommended training for care staff and ask if the Training Provider can deliver units in line with these recommended standards for care staff training.
A little planning when booking your training is all that is required to enable the session to be a learning experience for all involved.
