What work should a cultivator be used for?

Plowing can be helpful when planting fallow land or when changing crops. So it is beneficial to use the cultivator to oxygenate the soil, decompress the soil, provide a supply of plant residues, but also to prepare the soil for planting and remove weeds.

When should you plow your land?

In fact, there are no predefined periods to use the cultivator. It basically depends on one factor: humidity. It is easier to choose a time when the soil is moist and therefore loose. However, it should not be too heavy with water. Then the earth is compacted and a kind of plow base is created that does not favor the development of the roots.

When the ground is not wet enough, it will be difficult to ensure good implementation advance. In this case, know that you can perfectly equip the latter with iron wheels that then allow it to better adhere to your terrain.

Namely :

Since the 2006 law, you must respect schedules when doing noisy jobs like plowing. These are: from 8:30 am to noon and from 2:30 pm to 7:30 pm, Monday through Friday. On Saturdays, you can plow from 9 am to 12 pm and from 3 pm to 7 pm, and on Sundays only between 10 am and noon.

Precautions and tips for using a cultivator

It is essential to respect certain plowing rules and, in particular, to equip yourself correctly with:

  • From anti-vibration and anti-cut gloves (tools are sharp).
  • From safety boots.
  • From earplugs.
  • To anti-noise helmet.

It is recommended that you try to familiarize yourself with your equipment before starting. You must read the manual, especially since you have never used a cultivator. In fact, it is necessary to know how to handle the device to select the right power and drive it in the right direction.

Before any use, you must perform certain checks:

  • From oil levels (bridge, gearbox, engine) if you have a thermal level rudder.
  • Of Cable in the event of a power tiller.
  • Of air filter, fuel tank and tires.

The air filter must be perfectly clean before use. Be careful of debris and insects that can accumulate. The tires must be correctly inflated between 0.5 and 1 bar.

If you have an electric cultivator, you should check the connection sockets, they must be in good condition and particularly dry.

Remember to make sure that the cables are in perfect condition and check the assembly of the tools, this is essential for your safety.

The motor should be allowed to run for a few minutes before using it. Be careful: no connection should block the rudder in its path. Each tool must remain in place and especially the sleeves. The cutters must disengage in the reverse position. When using this tool, stay alert and focus.

Finally, remember that this type of device can become a danger if it is used incorrectly and if you are not sufficiently protected.

How to move your cultivator?

It is necessary that your step is carried out in a natural way without the need to force and pressure. On slopes, whether light or steep, use the lowest gear. If the slope is quite steep, favor angled plowing, this ensures your safety.
