Types of Public Speaking

There are different types of public speaking depending on the audience. A persuasive speech is a speech where the speaker makes powerful arguments to persuade an audience of something. This speech uses visuals and physical demonstrations to make the concept easier for the audience to understand and also uses emotive language to invoke a reaction from the listeners. It can be given for a variety of purposes, including a political rally, a conference or a debating society. The goal of this type of speech is to get as many people involved with the topic as possible. Often, it is intended for an audience that might not be very well-informed.
