Although there is no set amount of content or layout for a CV, when applying for a job as a care assistant, you should make sure that it contains the right information and that it is set out in the right way.
Start With a Personal Profile
The Personal Profile is typically written at the top of the page and should contain about two to three sentences. This needs to be specific and not be a typical ‘caring’ profile. For example: “Compassionate and reliable carer with three years’ experience supporting older adults with personal care and mobility” is so much better than “I am a caring and enthusiastic person and would like to work as a Care Assistant”.
List Experience, Paid or Unpaid
Many people applying for Care Worker Jobs come from completely unrelated backgrounds, so do not worry! Caring for example, looking after a family member, voluntary work at a day centre, work in hospitality, etc. List the setting, your job title and then list some of the tasks you carried out.
Highlight Relevant Qualifications
Details of any relevant QQI certificates, manual handling and first aid qualifications should be clearly stated and highlighted to ensure that the reader is left in no doubt as to your suitability for the job for which you are applying.
Tailor Your CV to the Role

Format It Clearly
