While trying to get through my pile of unplayed or “unfinished” games, a pile that’s grown considerably over the past month, I just couldn’t resist picking up “Trine” via Steam shortly after its release. I’d had my eyes on the game since I stumbled upon a couple of screenshots and an in-game video some weeks ago.

The highly anticipated multi-platform title Prototype opened up for pre-orders via Steam yesterday and publisher ActiVision has, in all its wisdom, set the price at €59.99 for mainland Europe. A whopping €60 for a digitally distributed PC game? Is that supposed to be some kind of joke?

Cooperative gaming is a fad these days and last week Killing Floor arrived to help scratch the itch. Originally Killing Floor was a “total conversion” mod for Unreal Tournament 2004, a mod so professional and popular that it has been released as a stand-alone game, with help from the original modding team and distributed via Steam by Tripwire Interactive.

In 2007 founding members of the BitTorrent tracker The Pirate Bay started a campaign to free themselves of the ‘tyrannical’ international and domestic copyright laws by simply circumventing the whole issue in it’s entirety by buying its own sovereign nation.
