PS3 Slim: The Behemoth has Shrunk
August 18th, 2009
So it’s finally official, after denying it for months Sony is trimming the fat off their behemoth, the PS3, releasing the “PS3 slim”. They are also cutting the price down to $299 for the 80 gig version (in the US…Europe is probably almost double as usual).
Now I kinda wish I hadn’t bought my PS3, I really haven’t used it very much since and I never liked the look of the enormous dust magnet. Afraid I was also one of many European suckers who bought the European rip-off version… the 40 gig PS3 with less USB ports and no backwards compatibility that was sold for the eqvivalent of ~$800+ for almost a year.
Question is what will Microsoft do to counter Sony’s bold move? Maybe we’ll get something tomorrow at Microsoft’s GamesCom briefing.
