I'm 34 and have loved video games since the Atari 2600. Like you I could never get a chance to play long enough to master games for various reasons growing up(large family, low income, etc.) I was always a generation behind on consoles or buying them at the end of their cycle. The first game to get my attention though was PacMan on Atari 2600, then Mario Bros (but never completed) then years later Syphon Filter (the first "shooter" I was ever good at)....years went by and my love for games never matched my skill. It wasn't until I bought my first 'new' console at the age of 32 (Xbox 360) that it happened. I picked up a copy of Gears of War....and was not sure what would happen. I'm no good at FPS. But I just had to try it. It was the second game I have ever beaten...EVER and the first on a full size console. I loved it. That was my moment. I'm the only one of my friends and family still playing regularly. Still don't have the time to invest in mastering games (2 kids and a wife) but I try to get 20-30 minutes in when I can!
