Only if you're thinking of Hokusai, and what he calls manga isn't really what we refer to as manga today.

Don't forget the coloring - pick a bunch of dry color tones, add a white highlight, then shade with black shadows.

I'm glad someone else noticed this. Compare Square artists with - say - Capcom artists and holy shit there's a world of difference

Let's explore who's facts are incorrect here. Actually, that's not at all true. There was a cartoony style of Asian art, called Manga, as early as the 17th century, but the entirety of the modern concepts of anime and manga were direct responses to Walt Disney movies being introduced to Asian markets during the American occupation after WWII.
Osamu Tezuka, generally considered the father of modern manga, watched Snow White and Bambi each over hundreds of times, drawing from the Western style to create many of his characters.
Again, yes, the word "Manga", and the basal form existed, but anything that modern audiences would recognize as Manga or Anime was at best directly inspired, and at least HEAVILY influenced by Disney's work, and the work of other cartoonists working in the U.S. during the 30's and 40's.

You know I know this tutorial is meant to be bashing Finaly Fantasy charecter designs but.. I actually really like the designs that were produced with the method described. Even used it to draw some of my own. I dunno, maybe I am one of those people who like the style . XD.

You didn't notice it?

Final Fantasy is a big offender here. The problem isn't that it's a cultural bias...
As the games started off with more fearsome, masculine characters.. and as the series progressed, they got a little more girly.

Manly Not Manly

Haha. Get your history facts right. Mangas and its style have long existed before Disney.

On an entirely different (and somewhat random) note, the dish "spaghetti and meat balls" wasn't invented by Italians. That meal was invented in America around the early 1900s, I believe, and somehow became known as an Italian dish. Italy did have pasta that originated from China, but spaghetti with meatballs isn't Italian. There's an episode of the show "Good Eats" that goes into more detail about the meal's history.
