Fanart Friday: Left For Dead!

13-coolest-leftfordead-fan-projects

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love L4D and they ask what I love about it so much… and well I guess it’s kind of like why kids like Apple Jacks. I just do. But luckily I’m not alone because there are tons of L4d fans out there which has lead to some of the coolest video game fan projects ever made. Here are some of our favorites.

1. Left for Dead Cake

A game’s not truly popular until someone makes a tasty food item out of it. While L4D hasn’t gotten its own cereal (yet) it does have a deliciously grotesque cake. It barely looks edible, but then again, what do we know? We don’t have much of a taste for flesh. (It’s actually made of chocolate, not flesh, in case anyone was wondering). Source

2. Left for Dead Valentines

Not every survival horror game or film could boast their own Valentine’s Day Cards, but Left for Dead has earned a special place in our hearts. The artist Beavotron took what’s supposed to be menacing mutated zombies and turned them into cuddly approachable Valentines. No, the Hunter isn’t trying to rip you apart, he just wants to have a tickle fight! Awwwwww. Source

3. Left for Dead Russian Dolls

Sure each one gets smaller, but that doesn’t meant he threat is any less deadly. This hand-painted set of Russian dolls was made as a birthday gift (and we are insanely jealous). Source

4. Tank Papercraft

Decorate your office desk with this DIY Tank papercraft. Your coworkers might not get the reference if they’re not gamers, but they’ll be sufficiently creeped out and might even leave you the hell alone. Or you’ll find out that someone else at the office has the same lust of killing zombies that you do. Or nothing comes of it but you finally have office decoration that reflects your tastes. Either way, win win win! Source

5. Witch Animation

The Witch has a bad reputation for flying off the handle, but has it ever occurred to anyone that maybe she’s just lonely? Why not give her a chance? On second thought, maybe it’s best to avoid her. Check out this fun animated short by BradRedfield. Source

6. Boomer’s Day Off

If you think it takes dedication to produce a whole animated short, then what about a 4 part live action web series? Boomer’s Day Off explores a more human aspect of the special infected. It even puts names to some familiar faces… Sp check out the lives of Oscar the Boomer, Sheila the Witch and Todd the Hunter. Source

7. L4D Figures

There are fan projects that impress us, and then there are fan projects that amaze us. MrPanic241 has created tiny L4D figures with incredible detail. The Bill figure pictured above includes a tiny cigarette, health pak, molotov, pistol and m16. Check out the gallery for more survivors and special infected figures.

8. Hunter Smiley

Best. Smiley. Ever. Thanks to ScreamingGerbil, when someone pisses you off in a forum, you can post this emoticon of a hunter smiley ripping them to shreds. There may never be a more satisfying response to a troll on the internet. Source

9. Homer Boomer

Simpsons + Anything usually equals win. That’s why we love this Homer Boomer. We’d love to see more Simpons/L4D mashups, so go harass the artist begging for more. Artists love being harassed right? Actually an entire skinned version of Simpsons L4D would rock pretty hard. Get on it internet! Source

10. L4D Pipe Cleaner Figures

We wouldn’t have guessed that you could get so much detail out of pipe cleaners. These Left for Dead pipe cleaner figures show a remarkable amount of detail and are fully posable! The whole infected gane is here, covered in ooze and blood. Source

11. L4D Doodles

There’s no shortage of awesome Left For Dead fan art on the web, but we thought this was too adorable to pass up. These Left for Dead doodles by Devastis are creepy and cuddly and for so little detail capture the characters pretty well. Source

12. Witch Costume

For something that was just whipped up last minute, Neon-Stitches’s Witch Costume is top notch. I’ve always secretly thought the Witch was pretty hot, and this proves it. The hands are really impressive, made from “quick wood” epoxy. Source

13. Knitted Smoker

Sort of a Left for Dead meets Sackboy, the knitted Smoker almost looks like something you’d stick in your baby’s crib. But you wouldn’t unless your a sick freak who wants to forever scar your child. Oh wait, they’re your kid, and already screwed up. Please proceed. Source

Those are all awesome, loving the Homer Boomer and the doodles though. Doodles remind me of games by the Behemoth (Alien Hominid for example).

13 is crocheted, not knit. It’s also the most adorable thing ever.
