CGOTW: Groov

All right, I know what you’re thinking - “Another two stick shooter?” and “It looks like a cheap Geometry Wars knock off!”. Yes, it is a two stick shooter, and yes, it does look a little like Geometry wars, but the similarities stop there. Groov adds something new to the genre—the ability to create music as you play.

Every shot fired plays a note. Every enemy destroyed adds a sound to the mix. Every time you play this game, you will have a unique musical experience. If you’re into games like Rez and Lumines, give Groov a chance. I could write paragraphs upon paragraphs about this game, but it’s just much easier to sum it up with a video, so here you go.

<a href="http://video.msn.com/?mkt=en-US&#038;playlist=videoByUuids:uuids:c03e0bce-8c7d-4c52-a403-c9b7ab44f683&#038;showPlaylist=true&#038;from=msnvideo" target="_new" title="Groov Trailer" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview ('/outbound/video.msn.com');">Video: Groov Trailer</a>

Groov costs 200 Microsoft points, and is definitely worth your time if you’re into two stick shooters, music games, or both.

One step closer to having real-life theme music like Peter Griffin. Nice article!
