Broken Steel: Steel Be With You!

It’s no secret to anyone who frequents this site that I’m a fan of Fallout 3. Unfortunately, it did ship with one major flaw - once you finished the main quest, the game was completely over. There’s no going back and finishing your side quests, or just playing around in the Capital Wastelands, it’s just over. Until now, that is.

The Broken Steel DLC pack brings with it a wide variety of new features. The level cap has been raised to 30, several new, and exciting perks have been added. My personal favorite change is the ability to play beyond the end of the main quest line. Broken steel not only allows you to carry on after you’ve completed the main story, but it also provides  about 5 hours worth of additional quests, as well as a few side quests.

The new Broken Steel quest line has the player working to push the Enclave out of the Capital Wasteland once and for all. In your efforts to do so, you’ll visit several new locations, acquire some new weapons such as the Heavy Incinerator, and the Testla Cannon, and you’ll even get to witness the awesome power of an orbital strike satellite. The new quests are both challenging and enjoyable. You’ll find yourself going up against hordes of Enclave soldiers, Deathclaws, and sentry drones as you work toward the final showdown with the Enclave at Adam’s Air Force Base.

The aforementioned level cap increase brings with it several new perks. Warmonger allows you to create any of the buildable weapons in the game without the blueprints. No Weakness raises any low S.P.E.C.I.A.L. traits up to level 5. Each of the fourteen new perks is well worth the effort it will take to get to a high enough level to use them. On the topic of getting to a higher level, once you hit level 25, the enemies become extremely tough. If you were having an easy time working your way through the Capital Wasteland before, you will almost certainly find the challenge you were lacking in Broken Steel.

At ten dollars, Broken Steel is a must have purchase for any Fallout 3 fan. With new quests, perks, enemies, and weapons, as well as the ability to play past the end of the main quest, this DLC pack will add hours upon hours worth of gameplay to an already enjoyable game.

You should be playing the PC version of the game… that’s really a must for any fan, tailor the game and your characters exactly the way you want with mods. Just gotta wait with the official DLCs until you know it’s “safe” and that it won’t break your game hah
