A Great Day in Gaming History
September 25th, 2008

We here at Check Your HUD don’t normally regurgitate news you can get elsewhere. It’s not what we’re about. In this case, I’m willing to make an exception. Kotaku is reporting that Florida attorney and all around menace to gamers Jack Thompson has officially been disbarred. Jack Thompson has been a long time opponent of the video game industry. He has fought to stop the release of several Rockstar games, and tried to remove what he refers to as “murder simulators” (we call them M-rated games) from store shelves. It’s not so much his goals, but his methods that got him disbarred. He frequently abused the legal system for his own gain, and had a bad habit of mouthing off to judges. The disbarment will take effect in thirty days, giving JT time to settle things with his current clients. On a personal note, I plan to do some drinking this evening to celebrate what is sure to be come a gamer’s holiday in the coming years.
